VirtueRF and Vivace- What’s the Difference?

Vivace and VirtueRF are radiofrequency microneedling devices, and are both used to smooth, firm, and revitalize the skin. If you’re looking to improve your skin texture, and to reverse many of the common signs of aging, Vivace and VirtueRF might be the answers you’ve been searching for. These remarkable treatments are easy, effective, non-surgical, and minimally invasive. Both Vivace and VirtueRF combine the benefits of microneedling and radiofrequency technology. The end result? Glowing, rejuvenated skin. Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling isn’t an ablative procedure, meaning it doesn’t remove the outer layer of the skin. So, unlike certain laser treatments and chemical peels, there’s no awkward healing phase. Skin Perfect Medical Aesthetics is pleased to provide these advanced treatments along with an array of talented staff members dedicated to helping you on your way to perfect skin. After experiencing the results of these RF microneedling sessions, you might be able to simplify your skincare routine and go makeup free – both of which are liberating and money-saving opportunities!

RF Microneedling is available at select Skin Perfect locations in Costa Mesa, Rancho Cucamonga, West Hollywood, and Whittier. Schedule a consultation today! Call (844) 898-1080 to get started on your path to beautiful skin!

What is RF Microneedling?

Radiofrequency microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that uses tiny, ultra-fine needles that quickly glide into your dermis, creating microchannels where they’ve penetrated. This process causes the body to respond as if an injury has occurred, and the wound healing reaction causes a cascade effect that results in the production of additional collagen. This is why microneedling is often referred to as collagen induction therapy. It’s an effective way to diminish the appearance of acne scars because the needles disrupt the scar tissue, and as the skin regenerates, healthy, undamaged skin cells take their place.(1) But unlike regular microneedling, the needles in VirtueRF and Vivace emit controlled pulses of radiofrequency energy from their tips, creating a thermal effect in the reticular dermis, the deepest layer of the skin. This heat causes the existing collagen fibers to contract, tightening the skin. It also stimulates the additional production of collagen and elastin. Over the next few weeks, the increased level of collagen creates firmer, smoother skin. And, radiofrequency microneedling can also be combined with other treatment modalities for total skin rejuvenation!

VirtueRF uses an exclusive robotic precision delivery (RPD) system to control the insertion of the tiny microneedles. Many microneedling pens, at-home tools, and other RF microneedling systems can actually damage the skin. Because they are not as precise, the needles can end up scratching the skin. Not only is this painful, but the microchannels can become filled with blood and sebum, which can compromise results and even lead to unwanted complications. During a VirtueRF procedure, patients have the additional advantage of a numbing cream, which is applied prior to the treatment for added comfort. VirtueRF sessions are fast, and in just 20 minutes, the entire face can be treated.

VirtueRF utilizes other technological advantages to provide optimal results. It’s handpiece emits both red and blue LED light to improve the condition of the skin. As the most powerful RF platform available today, it’s also the most versatile. Virtue RF has the most setting options, allowing the technician to carefully tailor the treatment to a patient’s needs. This means that is can treat patients of nearly all skin types, and be adjusted to improve specific skin conditions. In addition to being able to control the amount of energy being emitted, it also can deliver longer pulses of radiofrequency energy for a more effective treatment in a single session.

Like VirtueRF, Vivace is also a minimally invasive, FDA-approved microneedling treatment that utilizes radiofrequency technology to minimize skin imperfections, signs of aging, acne scars, discoloration, and other blemishes. It also features pulses of blue and red LED lights. Although it was introduced prior to VirtueRF, Vivace remains popular due to its effectiveness, limited pain, and incredibly successful results. With the combination of microneedling and radiofrequency, Vivace patients have noticed a plethora of benefits, including tightened, smooth skin, radiant skin texture, a decrease in acne marks, and fewer fine lines. A Vivace treatment session takes about 45 minutes to treat the entire face once the numbing cream has taken effect.

The Big Question – What’s The Difference Between VirtueRF and Vivace?

While Vivace and VirtueRF are similar, they each carry their own set of distinctive qualities. Learning the differences between the two treatments can help you determine which is best for you. The length of the treatments, the number of setting options, the intensity of the device, and the severity of the conditions you wish to treat are all factors that may impact your decision. Some patients report that VirtueRF is a more comfortable treatment than Vivace, but both offer exceptional results.

One of VirtueRF’s most desirable features is its exclusive Microcurrent Dual Face Mask which is applied after sessions. This post-session mask helps to eliminate redness and irritation, which promotes rapid healing so that you can return to social engagements immediately. This advanced facial mask consists of two layers and a serum that are engineered to deliver hydrating nutrients deep into the skin. An ion exchange causes an electrical microcurrent, which propels the serum’s ingredients deep into the dermis on a molecular level. Microcurrent Dual Face Mask’s serum consists of powerful ingredients such as aloe vera extract, sodium hyaluronate, and caffeine. After a Vivace session, a soothing peptide mask is applied to the face, which helps with post-treatment symptoms. This is followed up by a serum to aid healing.

What can I expect after Vivace and VirtueRF treatments?

Following both a Vivace or VirtueRF session, you may notice some subtle redness or irritation for the next 24 hours or so. This is actually a good sign, because that means that your skin has reacted to the treatment properly. Any signs of redness will begin to slowly fade, and by the next day, you’ll be able to apply any skincare products and makeup. Collagen production will continue to develop, and you’ll notice a positive difference in your skin’s appearance over the next few weeks. RF Microneedling sessions are typically scheduled 4-6 weeks apart, and most patients see the best results after 3-4 sessions. Patients are recomended to return for a follow-up session to maintain their results every 6 months.

Benefits of Radiofrequency Microneedling

Because your collagen production is stimulated and continues to be produced post-treatment, the results of radiofrequency microneedling are natural-looking, and gradually and continuously improve. Some of the benefits of the treatment include:

  • Does not require any downtime
  • Nearly pain-free
  • Diminishes scar tissue, stretch marks & blemishes
  • Tightens skin
  • Reduces pore size, fine lines, & wrinkles
  • Improves skin color, tone, & texture
  • Immediate & gradual results

What is the Procedure Like?

VirtueRF and Vivace treatments begin with your aesthetician applying a numbing cream to your skin. The numbing cream used is non-comedogenic and safe for all skin types. This way, you’ll experience minimal pain during the treatment. After the numbing cream is applied and has taken effect, your technician will apply the handpiece to your facial skin and neck. During each placement, the handpiece will automatically insert the needles to the required depth, where it will emit the selected amount of RF energy. Once complete, your technician will move the handpiece and repeat the process, until the entire treatment area has received even coverage. Patients simply sit back and relax! VirtueRF is available at Skin Perfect’s Costa Mesa and Rancho Cucamonga locations. Patients interested in a Vivace treatment can visit our locations in Brea and Whittier.

Is there downtime with Vivace or VirtueRF?

No, Vivace and VirtueRF require little to no downtime after treatment. However, it is strongly encouraged that patients avoid strenuous physical activity, wearing makeup, and taking very hot showers for the remainder of the day after your appointment. After 24 hours, normal activities and the application of cosmetics can resume.

What Can I Expect After Treatment?

After Vivace or VirtueRF, you’ll notice a slight change in your skin’s appearance. After any redness starts to fade away, your skin will be bright, glowing, and smooth in texture. As time goes on, your results will improve and become more noticeable. It’s important to note that patients usually need somewhere between three and six sessions to see the best results.

How Much Does Vivace and VirtueRF Cost in Los Angeles?

The cost of microneedling varies depending on how many sessions you receive, and the areas you’d like to treat. Skin Perfect Medical Aesthetics will be able to provide you with an accurate estimate following your consultation.

How long after microneedling before I can wear makeup?

You should wait at least six hours after a microneedling session before wearing any makeup, however, it is recommended that you wait until the next day. This way, the skin has time to recover and fully absorb any serums or moisturizers that were applied to your skin without a cosmetic barrier.

What kind of skin does microneedling work on?

Microneedling and RF treatments can work on nearly every skin type. Unlike many laser treatments, microneedling and RF treatments are non-ablative. This means that less damage to the outer layer of the skin is caused, and there is no lengthy recovery. It also allows patients with a wide range of skin types to undergo treatment without the risk of undesirable changes in the pigmentation of their skin.

Are the benefits of microneedling permanent?

While everyone is different, microneedling has proven to be effective at permanently erasing scars, signs of aging, and other forms of damage.Because of its incredible ability to stimulate collagen production, microneedling shouldn’t take any upkeep or maintenance. Rather, patients may need a certain amount of treatments to see full results.
