Emsella (EMSELLA®) is a non-surgical treatment that uses cutting-edge technology to improve your pelvic floor muscles and reduce urinary incontinence.
Over time, aging, pregnancy, and hormonal fluctuations can affect the strength of these muscles. While these changes are natural, they can lead to the development of uncomfortable and uncontrollable effects, such as incontinence, an overactive bladder, and even pain during sex. With Emsella, you can reduce these concerns and restore your sense of personal comfort and self-confidence.
At Skin Perfect, our experienced team is dedicated to helping you feel your best with safe, effective treatments like Emsella, so you can get back to living confidently and comfortably.

About Emsella
Emsella is a treatment that emits high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) energy into your tissues to reduce urinary incontinence and rehabilitate weakened pelvic floor muscles. (1) As the HIFEM energy enters your tissues and muscles, it stimulates supramaximal contractions. These are deep pelvic floor contractions that are stronger than those you can perform independently, with one Emsella treatment equating to approximately 11,000 pelvic floor muscle contractions. (2)
Benefits
Emsella offers numerous benefits, including:
- Reduced Leakage: Emsella can improve stress urinary incontinence, urge incontinence, overflow incontinence, and mixed urinary incontinence.
- Gained Muscle: This treatment can strengthen and build your pelvic floor muscles, which help control the bladder.
- Non-Surgical Nature: Emsella does not require incisions or anesthesia during treatment.
- Quick Treatment Time: The duration of each treatment session is approximately 30 minutes.
- Personalized Solutions: Your specialist will tailor each aspect of your treatment plan around your specific needs and goals.
- Elevated Self-Esteem: Addressing sources of discomfort and insecurity can help you improve your body positivity.
Candidates
You may be an ideal candidate for Emsella if you are struggling with urinary incontinence or an overactive bladder. This can include stress urinary incontinence, urge incontinence, overflow incontinence, and mixed urinary incontinence. You may also make a suitable candidate if you were recently pregnant and are now experiencing postpartum incontinence.
To qualify for Emsella, you should possess good general health without any underlying medical conditions that may affect your results. It is also important that you maintain realistic expectations regarding your results.
Personal Consultation
Each individual is unique, which is why we ask that you attend a personal consultation before scheduling your first Emsella treatment. During this consultation, your specialist will meet with you individually to determine your candidacy and create your treatment plan. They will converse with you openly about your medical history, personal concerns, and treatment goals. They may also perform a physical examination of the treatment area, if needed.
If you are ready to start your self-transformation, please schedule a consultation online or call our Whittier office at (562) 278-3202.
Preparation
Once you have scheduled your Emsella treatment, you may need to make certain preparations. To help, your specialist will provide you with a set of instructions. These instructions are minimal but essential to help you prepare for your treatment. Your specialist may direct you to:
- Maintain Your Diet: Ensure that you are eating a healthy, balanced, and nutritious diet leading up to your appointment.
- Stay Hydrated: Maintain your hydration levels by drinking plenty of water.
- Wear Light Clothing: We advise you to wear loose-fitting and breathable clothing to your treatment to enhance your comfort.
- Use the Restroom: Before your specialist starts your Emsella treatment, use the restroom to clear your bladder.
While these instructions are straightforward, following each one will help you achieve your desired effects.
Procedure
When you arrive for your treatment, a member of our team will lead you to a private treatment room where you will meet your specialist. Your specialist will reconfirm your treatment plan once more before seating you in the Emsella chair. Emsella is typically performed as a series of six treatment sessions, scheduled twice a week. (3) You will receive this treatment fully clothed, allowing you to maintain your personal privacy.
The Emsella chair will then begin emitting HIFEM energy into your pelvic area to stimulate supramaximal contractions. These are involuntary muscle contractions that are stronger than those that you would normally be able to achieve. This sensation may feel slightly uncomfortable initially, but it will dissipate after several minutes.
Recovery
One of the primary benefits of Emsella is its minimal recovery time. After your treatment session, you will be able to return to your routine immediately. This is because there are no incisions or penetration involved during the treatment process itself. While you may experience some soreness in the targeted areas, similar to an intense workout, these effects will subside on their own shortly after.
Your specialist will provide you with any additional information when they meet with you in person.
Results
The results of your Emsella treatment will gradually become more apparent as you continue receiving treatments. While your exact results will vary depending on your concerns, you can expect to reduce your incontinence and strengthen your pelvic floor muscles. Certain patients may also notice improvements in their sexual satisfaction and performance as a result of their muscle gain.
The results of Emsella are long-lasting, with effects that last between several months and one year. However, it is important to understand that it can take several treatment sessions for you to achieve your desired outcomes.
