About FoLix
Hair loss is an extremely common issue, and genetic hair loss is often hormone-related. Stress, aging, and vitamin deficiencies can also impact your hair dramatically and FoLix can help regrow your hair without chemicals or invasive procedures. FoLix is the first FDA-approved fractional laser for hair loss, and it can significantly improve your self-esteem and quality of life.
The Hair Growth Cycle
When you experience hair loss, the hair growth cycle becomes imbalanced which can lead to excessive hair shedding. It consists of three phases:
- Anagen: During the anagen phase, your follicles start to produce new hair.
- Catagen: During the catagen phase, your hair grows and remains attached to the hair follicle for several months.
- Telogen: Finally, the hair follicle releases the hair shaft, resulting in healthy hair shedding.
Although hair shedding is natural, when your hair sheds faster than it can grow, you may start to experience thinning or uneven areas on your scalp that are uncomfortable or distracting. Lumenis® FoLix helps your body restore its natural hair growth and healthy cycles for long-lasting results and thicker, fuller hair.
FoLix Technology
FoLix is a revolutionary non-ablative fractional laser system using hair stimulation
technology, providing effective, safe, and simple treatment for women and men.
- FLX™ Laser Technology: The laser’s unique algorithm ensures consistent application of the Lumenis® FoLix microbeams across the scalp. The laser energy increases blood flow and energizes the proteins (cytokines) in your blood to stimulate your hair follicles and promote growth effectively.
- FoliCool™ Tip: The FoliCool™ Tip cools the scalp and separates the hair for a comfortable, smooth treatment. The customizable settings allow our team to adjust the device for your comfort based on your preferences.

FoLix Candidates
The best candidates for hair loss treatments are seeking a noninvasive option for genetic hair loss, thinning, or reduced hair density. If you have hair loss, postpartum hair shedding, or changes to your hair from aging, you are likely a good candidate for the treatment. The best candidates are willing to commit to consistent treatments and take good care of their scalp for the best results.
FoLix Consultation
During your consultation, one of our medical providers will examine your scalp to determine the best treatment for your hair loss and create a plan to help you reach your goals. We will discuss your expectations for the treatment. Growing your hair back will take time and patience, but with the right treatment plan, you will see effective results that will increase your self-esteem. If you have a history of skin cancer, infection, or bacterial diseases, you may not be the best candidate for FoLix.
How to Prepare for FoLix
Please arrive at the office with clean and dry hair. Do not put any hair products in your hair the day of your treatment. Do not dye your hair one week before or after your treatment. It is important that you avoid wearing thick creams, gels, or personal care products that could affect the ability of the laser to penetrate your skin and promote hair growth effectively. Wear comfortable clothing to your appointment.
FoLix Treatment Process
Before the procedure starts, we will provide protective eyewear to shield your eyes from the laser light. During a FoLix treatment, we will apply the hair growth laser to your skin and the microbeams will pulsate energy beneath the skin’s surface to stimulate hair growth. The laser activates the natural healing process of your body to boost blood flow and stimulate hair growth. We will move the device across your scalp strategically so you have consistent growth after the treatment. The device is designed to ensure patient comfort, incorporating cooling mechanisms to minimize any discomfort during the procedure. The treatment length will depend on the size of the area you would like to treat. Most FoLix treatments take approximately 30 minutes.
FoLix Recovery
After a FoLix treatment, you can return to your normal activities immediately. Although there is not any downtime associated with this treatment, you should take good care of your scalp during your recovery to maintain your results and follow all post-procedure instructions carefully. Avoid excessive sun exposure and tools that could damage your hair. Do not enter a chlorinated pool for at least 24 hours. Do not dye your hair for one week after your treatment. Cleanse your scalp regularly, and detangle your hair gently.
FoLix Results
After a series of FoLix treatments, you can enjoy long-lasting results and thicker, stronger, denser hair growth. Most patients receive 4-6 FoLix sessions to achieve their desired results. Depending on the severity of your hair loss, you may need several treatments to restore your scalp. Growing your hair back does take time, and you will need to be patient and care for your scalp well while your hair follicles regenerate.
